Quai de la Picture is a brand new and really fascinating hybrid arts house on the Seine, simply in entrance of the BNF nationwide library (i.e. fairly near our inns).
We advised you about it opening again in July, saying that we have been trying ahead to getting down there ourselves to take a look at the exhibitions, bar, restaurant, and many others.
And now we’ve! Right here’s the way it went (spoiler alert: reasonably nicely)…
We first went to take a look at Quai de la Picture in the course of the day, to get an excellent take a look at the varied areas they’ve – a bar on the quayside with one picture exhibition, then on the water one other bar, the primary picture gallery, the picture bookshop, the restaurant and entry to the boats you may lease for a tour on the Seine (beginning at 12€ per individual and going as much as 245€ every for a themed picture tour!)

We selected to have dinner there, and our desk appeared virtually straight onto the water. With all of the lights of the close by bridge reflecting on the Seine, the scene was superbly set.
Nonetheless, we had one large query – the restaurant has solely a restricted menu, and a fixed-price one at that (just below 20€ for 2 programs) which appeared worryingly low-cost. Have been we going to have an excellent meal, or only a satisfactory one?
We thought it would assist if we ordered a cocktail (a spritz and a virgin mojito) whereas deciding what to eat…
With only a quick record of decisions, it didn’t take us lengthy to select:
— charred natural leak, feta cheese, marinaded daikon radish and fervour fruit French dressing
— gazpacho with basil sorbet and fried onions, adopted by
— an oriental-style burrata, Mechouia salad, crunchy pistachios with natural Argan oil, and
— satay-marinaded yellowfin tuna, grilled greens and coriander-infused olive oil.
The leek was superbly offered on an extended plate, very moist and melt-in-the-mouth, whereas the chilly gazpacho soup had a shocking mixture of tastes with its pretty candy sorbet. The burrata didn’t disappoint both, with its spicy tomato base and tiny items of pistachio, and the tuna – nicely cooked as we requested, reasonably than the same old uncommon – was accompanied by perfectly-cooked, crunchy greens.
With a menu so fairly priced, we thought the dishes have been very well executed and offered, with shocking mixes of flavours. Even the plates themselves have been sensible! It appears that evidently the lowered selection permits the chef to focus on every plate leaving the kitchens! 😋
The serving employees have been equally adept, and really pleasant.
Regardless of not being tremendous hungry after these two programs, we determined to attempt a minimum of one dessert! The figs sounded nice – roasted with natural Rooibos tea, with ‘corne de gazelle’ flavoured ice cream (a sort of unique dessert).
It turned out to be one more agreeable shock, prettily offered with a smokey style and really yummy ice cream. Different costlier eating places might study a factor or two from Quai de la Picture!
With the meal over, we determined to loosen up and have a last drink on the quayside bar, in deckchairs no much less! The evening was heat, there was music, the lights have been twinkling on the Seine…
It was the right finish to an excellent night. Such good meals was fairly a shock, our view of the Sein was good, and we even received to see a free picture exhibition!
