Modern artist Ali Cherri shares Giacometti’s intense curiosity within the portrayal of the human head, and Cherri even coined a phrase for it – “envisagement” – mixing the French phrase for face (visage) and the phrase ‘envisage’.
Referencing Cherri’s movies as a director, the exhibition is offered as a form of monitoring shot round a set of sculpted heads, together with many works specifically created by the artist for the occasion. In juxtaposition, you’ll see work, sculptures and drawings by Giacometti taken from the Basis’s collections.
