Bonjour,
I hope you and yours are nicely.
I’m simply again from a grand tour of the south of France to discover Grasse, the fragrance capital of France and the stunning villages that encompass it. Then I went to the Côte d’Azur, or French Riviera as we name it in English, to search out the prettiest villages and beautiful cities outdoors of the principle resorts. After which on to Provence to find the wines of the Rhone Valley, discover the world and uncover a few of its secrets and techniques – beautiful villages, and issues to do.
Travelling is only one a part of my life, the remainder is all about dwelling, my husband Mark, my pretty neighbours, rising greens, writing, renovating our previous farmhouse (alas, regardless of our plans, we didn’t end this 12 months, so we’re now within the twenty second 12 months of renovation) studying to prepare dinner, and caring for my animals. I’ve 4 canines, 6 cats, umpteen chickens, and Charlie the hedgehog. Charlie lived in the home with us a few winters in the past after we discovered him ravenous and wandering disoriented within the backyard and took him in to nurture him by the chilly months. We launched him when it was time, and off he went. However he quickly got here again, dined with the stray cats every evening (we put meals out for them), and acquired extra hedgehogs with him and now now we have fairly a group of them within the backyard. They go to, eat, wind the canines up then disappear to their dens. However Charlie found that the stray cats have good cosy beds of their little hut, and he’s moved in. I’ll pop a photograph on Instagram shortly (ps I’m sharing little tales, vignettes of life in rural France – my neighbours, animals and each day goings on – on Instagram – be at liberty to hitch me!).
In the meantime, the temperature right here within the north is cooling each day, the clear sky twinkles at evening with hundreds of thousands of stars, mist covers the valley within the morning when the grass is heavy with dew earlier than the solar comes up and lights up the gold, copper and crimson leaves of bushes and bushes. The hedgerows are heavy with berries, and I can really feel the primary nip of frost ready to make its debut for the season. Claudette, my nonagenarian neighbour, in fact has a quote for autumn, it’s her speciality to know essentially the most lovely phrases of literary giants together with Albert Camus who mentioned, “Autumn is a second spring when each leaf is a flower.”
