In the meantime, again on the ranch, or slightly my little farmhouse, we’re having fun with one other signal of spring – the ’24 Hours of Le Mans’ of the north, the Rallye du Touquet – Le Touquet Paris-Plage is an elegant seaside city which we locals calls “the Monaco of the North”. Speedy automobiles pushed by drivers from all over the world dart up and down hills, bolt spherical hairpin bends and scoot via the little villages of the Seven Valleys space the place I stay in Pas de Calais.
Bread Man has the day without work from delivering bread, croissants and desserts because the roads are closed to all however the rally automobiles for a few days. Personally I believe that’s a disgrace, I’d like to see Bread Man along with his blue fabric cap pulled down firmly over his unruly darkish hair, his eyes twinkling, and his moustache twirled nattily on the corners, hunched over the steering wheel of his little bread van, taking up the dear rally automobiles – and profitable by a mile!
