This has 2 of my favourite Spanish meals: Iberian ham and sherry.
I don’t suppose the dish has any relationship, aside from that, to Spain.
I believe ‘something Newburg’ is an American invention, in all probability New York, in all probability through the Roaring ’20’s.
That’s only a guess – I must do extra analysis and I must care.
I really like the flavors. Whoever put them collectively first has my thanks.

Clearly, in Porto, there are church buildings….
Like this one:

It doesn’t actually look too attention-grabbing, does it?
It’s.
It’s the Church of St. Francis (Igreja de São Francisco) and the inside is roofed in additional than 800 kilos of gold leaf.

The whole lot is roofed in gold leaf: alters, pillars…. if it’s manufactured from wooden it’s gilded.

Facet alters, most important alters….

The carvings alone had been improbable! The quantity of labor phenomenal. After which to cowl all of it in gold leaf !
I’m not implying that the church had riches or rich donors, however….
I did discover that a few of the gold leaf was sporting off in locations.

That’s what a couple of hundred years of damage & tear can do.
In any case of that glitter we went to the seashore for lunch:

Surf’s up!
